Tekno RC Team Report Week 27-28, 2017

“This past weekend was the Portuguese Cup, an annual event that provides the winner with direct placement in the world championships, in this case, the ’18 worlds in Australia.

From the get go both my NB48.4 and my EB48.4 were dialed and super easy to drive so I knew it was game on for the Sunday race. I managed to take TQ for E-buggy and convert that into two wins in the first two finals after some close racing and great pace. The E-buggy remained very fast and easy to drive on the high grip fast track and I was very happy to take the win.”

“This weekend I was able to continue the back to back weekends by making the 3-hour drive to LRT Raceway in Iowa for the Firecracker 40. I was really pumped for this one as it would be the first time running a main longer than 30 mins! Shout out to Danny and his dad for the dialed facility!

As for qualifying, I would have solid runs and after the two rounds, I would TQ both E-buggy and Pro Nitro Buggy! E-buggy would go great and I would be able to win by about 2 laps! Noticing the changing track conditions I ran back and grabbed some x3 blockades instead of the x2’s during the short break between races for the Pro Buggy final. Starting on pole, I was able to drive nice and smooth and cruise to a near 2 lap victory after a full 40 minute main!! Midwestern team manager Eric Fletcher was able to win the 40 minute Truggy race as well to complete the Tekno RC #teknotakeover! After the past few races I’m extremely happy with my program, everything has been coming together perfectly! Massive thank you to my Sponsors and my Parents for everything!!”

“I decided to run E-buggy and 4wd SCT. Arriving early in the morning we were all greeted with a sketchy weather forecast that was changing by the hour.

During the first qualifier for SCT, I had not only chosen the wrong tire for the track conditions but had made to many driver errors to get in a solid run. My second qualifier turned out to be a totally different story. I had made the right choice in tires and the car felt absolutely amazing, and really overall was easy to drive and glued to the track. I was able to take the overall TQ starting on poll going into the mains later that night. E-buggy happened to be a total flip from SCT. With E-buggy running after SCT I had a good idea of what tire I wanted to use and was able to get in the fastest run taking the round one TQ. Round two started off really bad with a very slow first lap. I was, however, able to recover somewhat finishing the qualifier 3 seconds faster than my first run, but was edged out of the TQ spot by 2 seconds.

When the main came around later that night I would be starting in the 2nd position. The SCT main was up first. After the second lap I had already started to pull away from the pack but a few laps later I made two costly mistakes dropping me back to 2nd. I was quickly able to make the pass back into the lead and started to pull away. At the end, I was able to hold onto the lead and take the win. E-buggy was back to back with SCT and during the warm up laps I was able to get ready and felt confident. At the tone, we went over the center triple clean then two turns later 1st went a little wide onto the straight and I was able to make the pass for the lead. From that point on I was able to pull away and put in solid clean laps to finish 1st.”

“We departed early to NitroManiacs e.V. in Mönchengladbach Germany for the 4th Dutch Nationals. During the first qualification, the track was still wet so I had to drive on Spirals, definitely not my favorite tire. That qualification round went well but the car need some tuning for this beautiful but technical track of NitroManiacs e.V. The second and third qualification drove on a dry track, so no Spirals but on the Minipins ? which were much more predictable. Managed to place myself in second position for the 1/2 A final and after a nice but very close race with Jarno I finished first.
The Tekno NB48.4 was good, just slightly thicker anti-roll bars and the car was ready for the Main Final but just before the start it starts to rain …. lots of rain☔, we just had enough time to put on the “wet” setup and again …… the Spiral tires. Main final, starting at the first position, it was a beautiful battle with Jarno, Sander and Mark (and the rest of drivers). The last 10 minutes of the race, I had a big lead from car number 2, however, because during the last pit stop there were some problems with the fuel gun, was the tank completely filled ?????? My father decided to take me in for a small Pitstop in the last two minutes of the race, just to make sure, after an exciting 30-minute race I came home with the win! My Tekno NB48.4 performed extremely well!”

“Malaysian National League round 4 (MNL4) was held in the north part of Malaysia, Kulim with constantly changing weather and track conditions from sun to rain and from a slippery to a high bite track. This race was of a great importance as it would be the Malaysian National Champion decider.

Qualifying went well, although I set the fastest qualifying time I was not able to get the TQ as that round was canceled due to heavy rain so this result was discarded. Qualifying round 3 was run on very muddy and slippery conditions and although I did my best to get the overall TQ I had to settle for 2nd.. Bad luck cost me the TQ as round 2 was canceled but this made me want to win the race even more than before.

Sunday was the finals day so we had to run the semi and main final of the event. We had to change the car setup for the very bumpy and high grip track, winning the semi by a lap. When A-main came, weather also changed to super hot conditions and I tried to keep calm and drive smooth. I managed to drive clean and with only a few bobbles and slight mistakes I took the overall win by a lap in the hardest race I have ever participated in getting the overall win of the race. My NB48.4 performed flawlessly on the bumpy track and had 0 issues throughout the event!”

“Practice started at 8am and I was only able to get both of my cars on the track once before the rain came. Rain finally died out and we got started with qualifying about an hour late. E-truggy was up first and I had a great run going until my right rear tire came off landing me P7. 2nd qualifier truck was perfect landing me TQ. Main started and the truck was fantastic, leading wire to wire for the win!”

“NET Racing Challenge was held this past weekend and first of all, I would like to thank the organizers and the club president Nicole Bottai for making this possible. Sunday was the race day and I managed to win the first two qualifying rounds getting the overall TQ. Proceeding to the finals I was also able to win all three and get the overall race win in this challenging track – a big thank you to my sponsors who made this possible!
