“Round #1 of the Western Off-Road Racing Series (WORS) was held this past weekend at the Chilliwack Heritage Park in British Columbia, Canada. The 3 day event drew 198 racers from all over Canada along with a strong contingent of racers from Washington State. The 5 race series was created just this year and is already proving to be an instant success as racers traveled from far and wide to attend the inaugural event. Of course we couldn’t let the Canadians have all the fun without us, so we thought we would drive up and join the fun!

The track crew consisting of Ross Moore, Brian Serneels, Marc Ilton, Bill Kler, Al Jurisic, Rob Sorjonen, Brady Jansen, Chris Mueller, Thomas Davis and Syd from Star Rentals did an amazing job getting the track built in less than two days. The layout featured large, flowing jump sections, some technical elevation changes and a smooth surface that stayed consistent all weekend. Kudos to those guys, they did an amazing job and deserve to be recognized!

Saturday Qualifying went well with Tekno taking 4 overall TQ’s – Keith Hadley in Nitro Buggy and Electric 1/8 Buggy and myself taking the TQ’s in Pro4 SC and Nitro Truggy. On Sunday we were able to convert all 4 of those TQ’s into wins!

XMG Opening Race (CN), report by Jonathan Yeung:

“This was the first race for the new track opening. The race included 2 classes, 1/8 EP Buggy and 1/8 Nitro Buggy. Racers from Taiwan, Macau, Hong Kong and different province in Mainland China attended the race. My dad Carson and I raced in both classes.

Free practice was scheduled on 22-Apr but rain at morning delayed the schedule and free practice only available at around 3PM, we only had around 2-3 hours to tune our cars to prepare for the race. Qualifying started on Sunday morning, the track was very muddy due to rain the previous night, we had 3 qualify rounds in both classes. We had very good start in EP Buggy class, I took the TQ and win in the E-Buggy class. “
